Not Your Mom’s Paint & Sip
I always wanted to host a painting party but honestly don’t love the concept of everyone painting the same thing. Some paint well, some don’t, and I’d hate for someone to feel bad about their abilities. For our painting party there are no rules. Paint your heart out! Go with the flow, do what you feel, and don’t be afraid to make a hot mess. Some chose to use their fingers, others their toes, while some opted for brushes. Everyone was asked to contribute paint colors of their choosing which created a fun and eclectic mix.
We made a massive cheese board (hooray for Trader Joe’s cheese section!) and a watercolored buttercream funfetti cake. Guests brought their favorite bottle of wine which provided a nice mix of whites, reds, bubbles, and rosés. We made paint chip drink markers, hung this vintage inspired color chart, and made a paint-speckled tablecover using muslin and acrylic paint.
What I loved about this event was the aspect of sharing. We shared food and drink, paint colors, techniques, conversation, and laughs. It wasn’t about making something perfect. It was about being creative, letting loose, and having fun with it.
